The month of November was another successful month for HEP due to all the events that we held and the amount of people that participated with us. Some of the events that we held include the Know Your Candidate Political Forum, Fast For The Orphans, and Feast of The World. We also had an information table set up at Barnies Coffee and Tea shop in Lutz, FL. We invite you to continue to participate and join us in our future events as they are sure to be more successful and exciting. Here are a few pictures that tell of our story and the message we are bringing to the the world during the month of November: 1- Fast For The Orphans: this is a prayer service that we held half way through the 24HR fasting, so that the people who were fasting can come together and reflect on their personal experiences during their fasting. This prayer service was covered by the Tampa Tribune, which publish an article on their front page the next day about the organization and this event. 2- Feast of The World. This event concluded the 24HR fast and all the people, who participated in our fast, were invited to taste different dishes from different countries throughout the caribbean and the world. 3- HEP Political Forum. The political forum was held on November 3rd, 2008. Basically we wanted to create a platform where members of the Saint Leo and the surrounding communities could come in and ask questions to our panel of college professors regarding any of the candidates’ agendas. Some of the topics we covered were the economy, health care, ethics, moral and social issues, the media, and the cultural wars. 4- Tabling Throughout the community. Despite all the media and internet communication channels available to us in order to promote our organization, we concluded that tabling at various local businesses would give us a real presence in the community and help us add a personal touch to our message. We have been tabling at local shops such as Barnies Tea and Coffee shop in Lutz, FL. This board is one of the board that we always carry around with us because it gives a 3D presentation of HEP and the situation in Haiti. 5- HEP Ribbons. As of November 2008, HEP will start passing and giving out our blue and orange ribbons as a way for people to show support of our organization and the goals we are trying to accomplish. All the ribbons are handed out to people who support the organization by participating in our events and/or made a monetary donation. We want to send a special ‘Thank You’ to everyone who participated in the events that we held during this past month of November, and especially to those who made a monetary donations toward our Penny Drive and other projects. We invite everyone to continue support this organization because we will not be able to function or in existance without the support of people like you. If you would like to purchase a HEP T-shirt or request a HEP Ribbon, please call our office at 352-588-8013 or email us at haitianeducationproject@saintleo.edu.
